Trauma is the response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope, causes feelings of helplessness, diminishes the sense of self and the ability to feel the full range of emotions and experiences. During a traumatic event, the mind and body can become disconnected. This is a normal reaction to an extremely abnormal situation.  When the body and mind are thus diconnected, the energy and emotions can get stored in the body beneath the level of awareness. In Yoga for Trauma Recovery, we work to reconnect body and mind in a safe space. We utilize stretching and specific postures to release trapped emotions and energy. We also use breathing, guided meditation, and deep relaxation. 
Unbelievable how much this class assists in me being able to bring a sense of calm when my PTS starts to take control of my life.

When you arrive for a private class, you will find a comfortable space with plenty of room to stretch out in. The instuctor will geet you and get you oriented. Then you will be lead though some breathing, streching and brief guided meditation. Yoga mats and water are provided.
